Head of Risk
A growing asset manager in Dublin is seeking a Head of Risk to oversee and elevate its risk function, reporting directly to the CEO. This is an opportunity to shape risk management across both fund and operational domains.
As Head of Risk you will:
- Maintain a comprehensive risk management framework that aligns with current regulatory requirements and industry standards, ensuring all aspects of risk are proactively addressed.
- Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate operational risks across every business function including IT systems and third-party vendor relationships.
- Oversee the risk profile of UCITS funds as well as individual portfolio mandates by ensuring strict adherence to risk limits, liquidity requirements, and other regulatory constraints.
- Support the launch of new funds by ensuring each product is fully operationally prepared and meets all necessary risk criteria before market introduction.
- Prepare and deliver timely regulatory reporting to ensure accurate communication with relevant authorities and maintain compliance at all times.
- Review and present detailed board reports that provide transparent insights into risk exposures and support informed decision-making among senior management.
- Collaborate closely with internal auditors to address audit findings promptly through effective corrective actions that strengthen organisational resilience.
- Engage effectively with regulators, legal teams, external service providers, and other key stakeholders to foster strong collaborative relationships.
What you bring:
- A proven track record of experience in risk management within the investment management sector is essential for this position as it ensures familiarity with industry-specific challenges.
- Previous PCF approval by the Central Bank of Ireland is advantageous but not mandatory; candidates should demonstrate readiness for Chief Risk Officer (PCF-14), Designated Person for Operational Risk Management (PCF-39B), and Fund Risk Management (PCF-39C) designations.
- Proficiency in using advanced risk management tools along with quantitative analysis techniques such as stress-testing methodologies is required.
- Excellent understanding of UCITS regulations as well as MiFID guidelines coupled with knowledge of CBI requirements is vital for effective oversight.
- Experience conducting liquidity analysis and stress testing provides valuable insight into fund performance under varying conditions.
- Knowledge of PRIIPS KID documentation processes alongside NAV calculation methods supports accurate reporting responsibilities.
- Exposure to derivatives including ISDA/CSA documentation plus counterparty credit risk assessment and collateral management is desirable though not essential.
- Familiarity with operational resilience frameworks such as DORA plus cyber security protocols enhances your ability to safeguard organisational assets.
