Head of Compliance
Head of Compliance Hybrid: 2 days in office Location: Dublin City Centre
What you'll do:
- Advise the Board on measures required for full compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standards while assessing the impact of changes in the legal or regulatory environment on institutional activities.
- Identify all relevant regulatory obligations affecting business operations and ensure clear understanding of compliance responsibilities across all teams.
- Provide expert advice, interpretation, and oversight of regulatory obligations to support senior management and business lines in mitigating compliance and AML/CFT risks.
- Oversee structured compliance monitoring programmes (including AML/CFT) to ensure policies are observed consistently throughout the organisation.
- Manage mandatory training requirements for staff, promoting a culture where compliance is valued and encouraged at every level.
- Report regularly to the Board or relevant sub-committees on compliance risk management findings so these inform strategic decision-making processes.
- Act as primary contact for the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) and other regulatory bodies, fostering constructive relationships based on trust and transparency.
- Collaborate closely with risk management functions to verify that new products and procedures comply with current legislation as well as anticipated regulatory changes.
- Lead the MLRO function by overseeing business-wide AML/CFT risk assessments, customer risk assessments, and framework development to mitigate identified risks.
- Fulfil DPO responsibilities by ensuring full compliance with Data Protection regulations including advice on DPIAs and managing data subject requests.
What you bring:
- Significant experience (minimum 7 years) in compliance or regulatory risk roles within retail credit/credit servicing firms or retail banking environments is essential for success in this position.
- Extensive knowledge of Irish and EU regulatory frameworks relevant to lending, credit servicing, AML/CFT is required for effective oversight.
- Proven background in building, enhancing, and embedding robust compliance frameworks within regulated financial environments is necessary.
- Demonstrable experience advising senior management or executive teams on complex regulatory issues is vital for influencing organisational strategy.
- Well-proven record engaging constructively with the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) or similar regulatory bodies is expected.
- Experience fulfilling MLRO (Money Laundering Reporting Officer) responsibilities including business-wide risk assessment is important.
- Experience acting as DPO (Data Protection Officer), including managing DPIAs and data subject requests is highly desirable but not essential.
