Compliance & Risk Specialist (Insurance)
A leading insurance intermediary is seeking a dedicated Risk and Compliance Specialist to join their growing business. You will be part of a close-knit, supportive group that values collaboration, knowledge sharing, and ongoing professional development.
What you'll do:
As a Risk and Compliance Specialist you will:
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all requirements set by the Central Bank of Ireland, including the Consumer Protection Code, Operational Resilience Guidance, and Outsourcing Guidelines, by monitoring regulatory developments and assessing their impact on business operations.
- Maintain and update comprehensive compliance frameworks, policies, procedures, and controls to ensure robust oversight across all areas of the business.
- Act as a primary point of contact for regulatory queries and inspections, preparing accurate regulatory returns and reports while maintaining meticulous records for audits.
- Assist in responding to information requests from regulators and participate in thematic reviews to ensure transparency and accountability within the organisation.
- Perform quality assurance activities related to complaints handling, supporting root cause analysis efforts to drive improvements in customer outcomes.
- Support board and risk committee reporting by providing timely insights into compliance status, risk exposures, and mitigation actions undertaken by the business.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the company’s risk management framework by identifying, assessing, and monitoring key operational, regulatory, and conduct risks.
- Maintain the risk register diligently, tracking mitigation actions through regular risk assessments and scenario analyses to ensure proactive risk management.
What you bring:
To excel as a Risk and Compliance Specialist you will have:
- A degree in law, economics, business or a related discipline is preferable for understanding complex regulatory environments within financial services.
- A Professional Diploma in Compliance (LCI) is highly advantageous for demonstrating commitment to ongoing professional development.
- A proven track record of experience in second line compliance roles or assurance functions such as Risk Management or Internal Audit is required; exposure to insurance underwriting or intermediation is particularly valuable.
- Extensive knowledge of consumer protection principles—especially complaints handling processes—and error management is crucial for ensuring fair treatment of vulnerable customers.
- Proven experience with enterprise risk management frameworks—including maintaining risk registers and conducting thorough risk assessments—is necessary for effective oversight.
