Cost Accountant Dublin 24 (Hybrid)

Robert Walters are partnering with a multinational manufacturing company to hire a Cost Controller to join the finance team. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role that combines financial control, cost management, and strategic business partnering within a manufacturing environment. Position is based in Citywest with the ability to work from home two days a week and salary circa €75,000 - €80,000 plus 8% pension.

Key Responsibilities of the Cost Controller
Daily Responsibilities:

• Monitor operational costs against approved budgets.
• Track inventory usage and wastage.
• Analyse daily gross profit margins.
• Provide financial decision support to operational leaders.
• Review financial KPIs and business performance metrics.

Quarterly Responsibilities:

• Conduct cost trend analysis and margin reviews.
• Evaluate departmental spend against KPIs.
• Lead financial planning and forecasting cycles.
• Present performance reports to senior leadership.

Annual Responsibilities:

• Support annual budgeting processes with cost projections.
• Conduct full cost structure reviews.
• Coordinate year-end close processes and audits.

Financial Control & Governance:

• Ensure integrity of general ledger and manufacturing cost accounting.
• Prepare statutory accounts and manage audit processes.
• Maintain robust internal controls and compliance standards.

Manufacturing Cost Control:

• Own standard costing and variance analysis.
• Monitor material consumption, labour efficiency, and overhead absorption.
• Drive margin protection and cost optimisation initiatives.

Strategic & Commercial Leadership:

• Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles.
• Analyse profitability by product line and customer.
• Evaluate capital investment proposals (ROI, payback, NPV).

Key requirements of the Cost Accountant

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
• Strong experience within manufacturing finance.
• Deep understanding of standard costing and inventory accounting.
• Proven ability to partner with operational leadership teams.
• Experience with ERP systems in a production environment.
• Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in Excel.
