Senior Accountant Sligo

Robert Walters is partnering with a successful multinational Manufacturing company in North Sligo to hire a Senior Accountant on the Irish site. This is an office based role but offers ability to work 08:00 - 16:30 and a 15:30 finish on Fridays.

They are looking to hire a newly created Senior Accountant role reporting into the Finance Director you will provide weekly, monthly and yearly information to assist management in controlling and improving the financial results of the group.

They are looking for a qualified or part qualified Accountant with a strong understanding of management and financial accounting who wishes to progress in a career in industry.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant

Financial Operations

• Process and review purchase invoices, ensuring accurate coding, approval and recording.
• Manage AutoEntry and other invoice processing systems to accurately capture and categorise expenses.
• Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
• Generate and distribute customer statements.
• Prepare and process accounts payable payments in accordance with agreed payment terms.
• Monitor and follow up outstanding accounts receivable balances to support effective credit control and cash collection.
• Reconcile bank accounts
• Review customer orders and ensure they are set up correctly

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reports, preparing analysis and commentary.
• Maintain and update cash flow forecasts, reforecasting as required as project timings change
• Support the business with KPI reporting
• Produce reporting and analysis to support informed business decision-making.

Governance, Compliance & Tax

• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules, supporting documentation and responding to audit queries.
• Support the timely resolution of audit findings and recommendations.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory deadlines.
• Oversee pension contributions and coordinate PAYE compliance activities with payroll providers.

Key requirements of the Senior Accountant

• Qualified or part-qualified accountant (finalist with relevant experience).
• Minimum two years’ experience in a fast-paced industry environment.
• Proactive with the ability to use initiative, prioritise tasks, organise workflow and adhere to deadlines.

• Ability to analyse problems, develop and implement solutions to generate immediate results.
• Positive and flexible attitude with the aptitude to take ownership of work as required and see it through to completion.

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of UK VAT, payroll & compliance required.
