Legal Counsel An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Counsel to join a highly respected organisation based in Dublin, supporting its strategic objectives across the Republic of Ireland and beyond. This role is ideal for an experienced legal professional who thrives on providing expert guidance across a broad spectrum of legal areas, including corporate, commercial, competition, procurement, compliance, and construction.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal part in ensuring the business operates within the highest standards of legal and ethical compliance while maximising value and supporting growth. With operational reporting to the CEO and functional reporting to the Regional Legal Director, you will be at the heart of key decision-making processes, collaborating with senior management and cross-functional teams. The organisation offers a supportive and inclusive environment where your expertise will be valued, and your professional development encouraged.

  • Play a central role in shaping legal strategy and supporting business growth across multiple territories, working closely with senior leaders and regional directors.
  • Enjoy a varied workload spanning corporate governance, M&A activities, contract negotiation, compliance programmes, and risk management within a collaborative team setting.
  • Benefit from flexible working opportunities, ongoing training initiatives, and exposure to high-profile projects in the infrastructure sector.

What you'll do:

  • Provide comprehensive legal support to senior management across diverse areas such as corporate law, commercial contracts, competition law, procurement processes, compliance matters, and construction-related issues.
  • Manage all aspects of corporate legal affairs including restructuring activities, establishment or dissolution of entities, and regulatory matters such as permits and licences.
  • Assist the Regional Legal Director with mergers and acquisitions activities including joint ventures and partnerships by offering insightful legal analysis and documentation support.
  • Draft clear company policies and procedures that align with organisational goals while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Liaise effectively with group-level stakeholders on parent company guarantees and other significant legal issues requiring specialist input.
  • Review complex or high-value contracts thoroughly to identify potential risks or unusual terms before providing practical recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Analyse tenders, contracts, terms & conditions, ancillary documents, and other commercial agreements; draft bespoke agreements tailored to specific business needs.
  • Support commercial teams by delivering targeted legal advice and training sessions designed to enhance understanding of contractual obligations and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Select external counsel when necessary; instruct them appropriately while managing their output to ensure cost-effective delivery of expert advice.
  • Champion the implementation of group-wide compliance programmes by advising senior management on best practices in corporate governance, ethics, and regulatory adherence.

What you bring:

  • A solicitor or equivalent with at least five years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally gained within a top-tier law firm’s corporate or construction department or through substantial in-house practice.
  • Demonstrated experience working within or advising clients in the infrastructure sector is highly desirable for this position.
  • Outstanding communication abilities paired with excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to relate effectively across diverse demographics both internally and externally.
  • Proven capability to work independently while maintaining close collaboration with colleagues at all levels of management within a supportive team structure.
  • High-level conceptual thinking combined with analytical acumen; adept at interpreting business performance data as well as financial or human resources information for informed decision-making.
  • Experience handling insurance or procurement matters would be advantageous but is not essential for success in this role.
  • French language proficiency is considered beneficial given the international scope of some projects but is not mandatory.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development reflecting your commitment to staying current with evolving legal standards and best practices within your field.
  • A full driving licence along with a valid passport is required due to occasional travel demands associated with cross-border projects.
