Accounts Assistant

A well-established, city-centre hotel is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join its busy finance team. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Financial Controller, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of all finance-related operations — including income audit, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and reporting.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated accounts professional with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a desire to grow their career in hospitality finance.

Key Responsibilities of the Accounts Assistant Job:

Income Audit & Reconciliation

  • Daily income audit and reconciliation of cash/card receipts against bank and Opera
  • Maintain cashbooks and complete daily bank postings
  • Investigate and resolve variances, chargebacks, and adjustments

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Maintain creditor/debtor ledgers and reconciliation of accounts
  • Supervise and process supplier payments and weekly payment files
  • Control AR, payment allocations, and reporting

Month-End & Reporting

  • Support Financial Controller with management accounts, forecasts, and budgets
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports for management

Internal Controls & Audit

  • Assist with cash float inspections and audit processes
  • Ensure compliance with financial procedures and internal controls

Requirements of the Accounts Assistant Job:

  • Prior experience in a similar accounting/finance role
  • Strong Excel and financial systems skills (Opera experience an advantage)
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and liaise effectively with other departments
