Our leading insurance client is seeking a Head of Legal. The successful candidate will lead the legal team, overseeing all legal affairs and ensuring work is managed across the team. They will provide strategic legal advice to senior leadership to enable the delivery of our strategy, while ensuring we minimise legal risk and abide by the laws of the state.
Key responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing the Group’s legal strategy, in conjunction with the General Counsel
- Providing strategic, commercially focused legal advice to senior leaders
- Management of external counsel (in various specialisms as required) which includes planning inputs required from the business, selecting appropriate legal specialists, and scoping out work.
- Primary management of legal costs, including monitoring spend and negotiating agreements to the benefit of the company where possible.
- Identifying, managing and mitigating against legal risk.
- Preparing reports on law suits / other matters with significant legal implications, assessing potential legal claims against the organisation and putting in place strategies to mitigate or resolve.
- Drafting legal input into business proposals, review business transaction documentation and review/draft contracts and agreements
- Leading the Legal Team including providing guidance, mentoring, conducting performance reviews, career development discussions and day to day management duties
If you are 8+ years solicitor in ireland and have in-house experience, this could be a role for you. Competition law, leadership and strategic project experience is desired.
