Secretarial and business support recruitment was extremely buoyant during the first six months of 2016. The sectors with the greatest demand were real estate investment and construction. Financial services, particularly insurance / reinsurance, continued to be a particularly busy area for the first half of the year.
Leah Caul, Temp & Contract Manager at Robert Walters Ireland said: “The majority of roles we have seen have been newly created permanent positions supporting business growth. We have also seen a high volume of temporary recruitment to provide admin project support, as well as for holiday cover.”
From a candidates perspective, the main factors motivating movement were career progression, salary increases and additional benefits. Many organisations hiring reception, office administration and customer services staff opted to hire on a temporary or fixed term contract basis with a view to permanency.
Leah said: “Salaries for candidates with solid skills and proven experience continued to increase in 2016, with candidates opting to look for new roles elsewhere if a salary increase with their current employer was not available. We also continue to see a return of annual bonuses based on individual and company performance.”
