This position requires strong commercial acumen, expertise in revenue strategies and scenario analysis. The role will focus on tendering opportunities and the ongoing review of tendered business being delivered.

A semi state organisation in Dublin City Centre (1/2 days in the office) have a newly created position for a Head of Commercial Finance. This position requires strong commercial acumen, expertise in revenue strategies and scenario analysis. The role will focus on tendering opportunities and the ongoing review of tendered business being delivered. Further activities will include scenario planning, cost budgeting and management, and capital investment appraisal across technologies and vehicles.

Salary for this role is €85,000 - €95,000 range DOE.

Key Responsibilities for Head of Commercial Finance

  • Collaborate with the Head of Business Operations Control and senior leadership to develop, refine, and implement strategic financial plans in relation to the commercial business
  • Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of strategic initiatives, providing insights and recommendations to enhance profitability and achieve long-term objectives
  • Develop business cases for capital investments, including conducting investment appraisals
  • Conduct scenario planning and analysis to support strategic decision-making
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with the strategic plan and propose adjustments as needed.
  • Perform comprehensive financial analyses to support decision-making processes, including cost benefit analysis, scenario modelling, and risk assessments.
  • Develop financial models to evaluate the financial impact of various business strategies and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with finance team cost experts for periodic cost review and cost building for tendering.
  • Provide strategic insights based on financial analysis to support decision-making for commercial contract tenders. Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Work closely with department heads to establish realistic financial goals and monitor performance against budget
  • Identify and communicate potential financial risks and opportunities in a proactive manner. Systems Development
  • Evaluate, enhance, and implement financial systems to streamline processes and improve data accuracy
  • Collaborate with IT and finance teams to identify and implement technological solutions that support financial planning and reporting requirements
  • Communicate complex financial information in a clear and concise manner, making recommendations for strategic actions
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment between financial goals and overall business objectives

Key requirements of the Head of Commercial Finance

  • Accountancy qualification with at least 5-year post qualification experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct scenario planning
  • Proven experience in strategic financial planning, financial modelling, and analysis
  • Familiarity with investment appraisal techniques and business case development
  • Ability to think strategically and translate financial data into actionable insights
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is essential for data analysis and presentation purposes.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with experience in managing both direct and indirect reports.
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems for financial analysis and reporting.
