Our client is a leader in European bancassurance and part of global banking group with over 30 million customers and over 10,000 branches. Due to a recent strategic decision, the group has set up a Dublin office to play a key role in designing and managing a new product line of variable annuities and is actively seeking an experienced CFO to become an integral part of the Irish and European business.
The required candidate must have demonstrated experience in setting up a hedging platform within an insurance, banking or capital markets environment as well as strong statutory accounting experience.
Key responsibilities:
Control the portfolio and hedging strategy for variable annuity business
Deliver effective financial and management control infrastructure
Provide monthly financial reporting against plan, quarterly forecasting of the expected annual results and production of the regulatory and statutory accounts
Develop processes to identify, model and manage drivers of revenue and cost to ensure profitability of the business is optimized
Take responsibility for budget, liquidity management and capital requirements
Support the CEO from both a financial and commercial perspective
Establish effective processes to ensure compliance with the regulatory bodies, both locally and across Europe
Key requirements:
Third level education and a qualified accountant or actuary with significant statutory reporting experience
Significant life assurance sector experience with expert knowledge in capital markets
Offshore product experience desirable but not essential
Risk sensitivity for variable annuity business based on product experience with the ability to understand and to control hedging strategy and hedge operations
Proven track record of managing and developing a finance team
Able to operate strategically and tactically with a pragmatic, hands-on approach
Demonstrable commercial expertise gained within a company that has undergone growth in a competitive market place
Self reliant but a strong team player
Strong interpersonal skills with drive and ambition
Additional Criteria:
The successful candidate must be a resident or prepared to relocate in Southern Ireland and be approved by the Irish Financial Services Regulatory authority as a fit and proper candidate.
